How to Make HRPO Steel
Hot-rolled pickled & oiled steel begins as traditional hot-rolled steel. The material is heated above its recrystallization temperature and passed through rollers to achieve the desired thickness. After cooling, the steel undergoes a “pickling” treatment, where it’s immersed in an acid solution to remove mill scale and surface impurities. This step exposes a cleaner, more uniform base metal.
Once the pickling phase is complete, the steel is rinsed, dried, and coated with a thin layer of protective oil.
